Thomas Tuchel has stated that assembling the highest-profile players is no assurance of building the most effective squad dynamic. He hinted regardless of whether Jude Bellingham had returned to peak fitness following his shoulder problem, he might still have been omitted from the latest national team selection.

Focus on Team Spirit

The Three Lions' manager also indicated that the Arsenal winger's return might not have occurred if his teammate Noni Madueke been available. Tuchel has placed great importance on squad unity in his selection for the forthcoming Wales friendly and World Cup qualifier in Latvia.

"We're building the best team," said the England boss, who questioned the conventional wisdom that championship teams always select their most dangerous forwards.

Proven Success

The manager referenced the excellent atmosphere in the previous international break where the national team defeated Andorra and performed brilliantly versus Serbia without Bellingham. Tuchel observed no reason to alter the squad chemistry which delivered such positive results.

Fitness Considerations

Although the manager partly attributed Bellingham's absence to fitness concerns, he acknowledged that the player wanted to be included when they spoke. Tuchel had previously said sorry to the midfielder for comments regarding his playing conduct.

"Don't you think that attitude on the bench, commitment in sessions, and squad unity allows the starting eleven to perform at their best?" he questioned.

Squad Selection Justification

The coach stressed that his decisions were not personal targeting specific individuals but rather rewarded those who had performed during the previous international break.

"What would be justify dropping them and still be authentic in my words?" he posed.

Necessary Adjustments

The only change in selection proved necessary with injured Madueke being replaced by the recovered Saka. The manager explained that the Arsenal winger could have been excluded had Madueke stayed healthy.

Additional omissions included Chelsea's Cole Palmer, who continues to struggle with injury problems. Given just two more camps before the World Cup, time is running out for certain individuals to impress.

Tournament Timing Issues

The manager revealed his desire for national team matches to begin at later times because of temperature worries in North America. Tuchel recognized this would create watching problems for English fans but maintained player welfare remains the priority.

"I understand the fans won't be happy but for us it's better if we play later," he stated. "The players make the sport and we have to protect them."
